Scodix Ultra Pro Digital Enhancement Press

Pre-Press Solutions

The Scodix Ultra Pro applies digital spot UV coating, raised polymer textures, foiling, Braille, and embossing to printed sheets — without dies, screens, or UV plates — delivering luxury print enhancements on demand at up to 1,250 B2+ sheets per hour.

The Scodix Ultra Pro is one of the most versatile digital enhancement platforms available to commercial and packaging printers, combining five distinct premium finishing technologies — spot coating, raised polymer texture, digital foiling, Braille, and embossing — in a single, software-driven press that requires no traditional tooling whatsoever. Where conventional spot UV, foiling, and embossing processes each require separate dies, screens, cylinders, or plates (with corresponding tooling lead times and minimum run costs), the Scodix Ultra Pro executes all of these enhancements directly from PDF file data, making premium finishing economically viable on runs of any length — from a single luxury prototype to a production run of tens of thousands.

The Ultra Pro's core imaging technology uses UV-cured inkjet polymer deposition. The system jets precise quantities of UV-curable polymer onto the printed sheet at locations defined by the digital file, then UV-cures it to a hard, optically clear finish. By varying the volume of polymer deposited per location — from 5 to 250 microns — the system creates everything from a subtle gloss highlight to a dramatic raised texture that can be felt as well as seen. This variability is the foundation of Scodix Sense, the tactile raised coating that transforms packaging, book covers, and marketing collateral into sensory experiences.

The digital foiling capability — delivered through Scodix Foil with the PAS (Pin Activate Secure) process — uses the PolySENSE 500 polymer as an adhesion activator. The polymer is deposited and cured to define the foil pattern, then the foil roll is pressed against the polymer areas in a clean, contact-based transfer that requires no chemical etching or engraving. The result is precisely defined metallic foil areas with sharp edges and fine detail capability that rivals conventional hot foil stamping — produced on demand at digital workflow speeds.

Braille production — a compliance requirement for pharmaceutical packaging in many markets and an emerging requirement for inclusive luxury brand packaging — is achieved by depositing multiple precise polymer layers to reach the standardised dot height specified by international Braille standards, without any specialist tooling or separate production step.

Use Cases & Applications

### Premium Pharmaceutical Packaging

Bangladesh's pharmaceutical sector — with major manufacturers including Square, Beximco, Incepta, Renata, and Opsonin — is increasingly required to include Braille text on medicinal product packaging for export to European Union markets, where EU Directive 2001/83/EC mandates Braille on all medicinal products. The Scodix Ultra Pro produces regulation-compliant digital Braille on folding cartons as part of the standard finishing workflow, with no additional tooling, press, or processing step. SPSL supports pharmaceutical packaging converters in configuring Braille production workflows for both domestic market packaging and export carton programmes.

### Luxury Consumer Goods and Cosmetics Packaging

Bangladesh's growing retail sector, including the expanding domestic cosmetics and personal care market, demands premium packaging that conveys brand value at point of sale. Spot UV on cosmetic cartons, embossed brand logos on gift boxes, and metallic foil accents on premium product packaging are all achievable on the Scodix Ultra Pro from files delivered directly from the pre-press workflow. The ability to produce sample quantities and short customised runs alongside mainstream production runs makes the Ultra Pro ideal for beauty brands that require frequent seasonal packaging variations and limited-edition versions.

### Premium Marketing Collateral and Corporate Communications

Bangladesh's corporate communications sector — serving the banking, telecom, and manufacturing industries — produces annual reports, brand books, invitation cards, and corporate gift items that require premium finishing to reflect organisational prestige. The Scodix Ultra Pro enables commercial print houses to offer clients raised spot UV business cards, foil-accented brochure covers, and embossed annual report covers as standard value-added services, increasing per-job revenue without requiring separate specialist finishing equipment.

### Book Cover and Publishing Enhancement

The publishing and educational book sector in Bangladesh produces millions of book covers annually. Textured spot UV on children's book covers, metallic foil title lettering on academic volumes, and embossed designs on premium trade books all command higher shelf appeal and price points. The Scodix Ultra Pro enables book printers to produce these premium cover effects at short-run quantities — making tactile enhancement economically viable for smaller print run academic and literary publications that conventional finishing economics could not justify.
